I purchased this hawk last year and I am very happy with it. I too looked at the mixed reviews and then did my homework. It needs pointing out that SOG have made two versions of this hawk. The first was with a hardwood handle. I believe the bad reviews are probably from people who bought these. I imagine that is why SOG came out with another version which featured a plastic handle. This is the type I purchased. The design is the same as the earlier model, but the new handle makes all the difference. I have abused mine by cutting tree limbs and throwing, and apart from a few scuffs and dirt, the head still sits snug like when it first arrived. Granted you could purchase a super tomahawk that would cost a huge amount, but for the price this hawk suits me fine. Apart from function it is also a nice looking tool/weapon which is suitable for both CQB or light breach work. As another reviewer stated, the sheath is good as it is one of the faster to draw from sheaths I have seen, and allows it to drop straight in to your hand. If money is no object then go for the super deluxe models being sold, but if that's not the case you won't be dissapointed with this product. Just make sure you purchase the newer style plastic handle.

Anyone looking for a well made and well designed hand axe for up close and personal nastiness, look no further. This is it! SOG knows what they are doing. The design is all business. The axe blade comes shaving sharp so take this as a warning. They have even ground the upper and lower blade points to a needle sharpness. The oppossing pick end is ground from six angles making it very functional. The pick is flared at the end so that it will create a larger wound channel and remove easily. The axe head is securely attached to the metal handle shaft with 4 star screws and there is a metal reinforcing ring around the area where the metal shaft is joined to the nylon handle. The weight and balance (towards the axe head) are perfect. They get kudos for the scabbard design. It is intended for a fignting axe. It drops the axe into your hand from the bottom opening scabbard with one handed ease. Looks, feels, and functions as a weapon should. I should have known as I own other SOG knives and they are all quality products. Even though this is one of their import products you can see it is still SOG all the way. Exactly what I was looking for!

It obviously would not take the abuse that my K5 tactical spike does, but I see no breakage with this product. . It will go through cinder blocks, bricks, I slammed it through a truck hood. A 63 ford truck hood to be exact. It will knock out glass and clear the sill. It will chop 2x4's in half. It would be a very useful entry tool, (simply drive the spike next to the door latch and kick). It will puncture tires so a suspect could not get away in a car. It will split smaller pieces of green wood. The hawk face is quite sharp and maintains a good edge even when chopping edgewise into heavy gauge sheet metal. The face is not down swept as a fighting hawk would be. But it would still hold it's own. With proper technique applied you could chop into the spine the throat and still hook and disarm an opponent. The spike is not sharpened all of the way around. It has more of a chisel edge that is great for chopping holes in cinder blocks to have firing holes to engage enemy targets. I have had no problem with using this product as it was intended. Remember this is a breacher/ extraction tool. You wouldn't use a screw driver as a hammer would you? Don't answer that. It held up very well to my abuse. To me this is a self defense weapon and tactical breeching tool. The lightness of the handle and it being head heavy gives it a balance and allows you to get a decent swing from the hawk. This is definitely not a slashing type of hawk. To be a good slasher the hawk face needs to have a belly or down sweep. In the future from Sog I would like to see a better head design. Get rid of the holes, give us the full weight and a better head attachment. But let's be honest. If you want an axe by an axe. If you want a thrower by a one piece Gil Hibben. This stands up well to the everyday challenges presented to it. If your handle broke? Send it back and get another one. The Chinese QC is iffy at best. Americans should know that by now. Send it back and get another one or order the American tomahak CQC $295.00 or in my oppinion the best tomahawk on the market today is the K5 tactical Spike $199.00. In my opinion ( former Marine) 14 years. I have used tomahawks throughout my life. In service and out. This is a very decent hawk for the price. I would recommend this as a entry level hawk to anyone interested in owning one but does not have 200 or 300 dollars to spend. You get the same features in the hawk that the higher priced ones have.

I bought this tomahawk pretty much just to throw and was able to stick it on my first try. Since then I have beaten the crap out of it and it's still intact with no signs of breaking any time soon. Also the blade holds an edge very well. I would definitely buy another.

out of the box it is VERY sharp. i have used it to take down numerous limbs and a few small trees and the blade will still shave my arm. my buddies have abused it throwing at trees and such with no ill effect. it still looks new.



i am VERY happy with this for the price.

It really works and is by far the most valuable accessory for the Dremel. It closes down to near 0 for the smallest of drill bits (much smaller than a sewing needle) yet still holds larger bits than the "large" hex collet. It is well made and durable, withstanding everything from concrete and tile dust to oily metal shavings. It must be tightened with considerable force to resist slipping under heavy use but that's to be expected.

This chuck (which I consider to be essential) greatly enhances the convenience of any Dremel. You might be tempted to save the old collet device this chuck replaces, but before long you will discard it as useless trash. I do a lot of really miniature work and I find the chuck to be great for holding things as small as a 1/64th inch drill. I have one on each of my 3 Dremels.

I don't understand why Dremel doesn't include this great little chuck as a standard accessory with all their Multi-Tools. It is so much easier, faster and less frustrating than fumbling with the tiny collar and wrench that the tools come equipped with. If you change bits on your Dremel often, as most users do, you will quickly come to appreciate the 4486. As for me, the 4486 is comparable to the Flex-Shaft as one of the single most worthwhile attachments available for adding versatility and conveience.

I consider the MultiPro chuck to be the best accessory ever made for the Dremel tool. When you're doing work that requires constant bit changes, the changing of collets to fit a bit of a particular diameter becomes a real frustration, and wastes time. So, needless to say, an adjustable chuck is a real boon for these kinds of jobs. Just loosen it to remove one bit, pop in another, tighten, and vwah-lah! The collet nut and collets become pretty much obsolete.

The chuck may seem somewhat pricey, but when you consider the time you'll save and the convenience you'll enjoy, it's well worth the extra investment.

My family moved into our current house five years ago, and our first autumn here we discovered that our house was a quite popular Fall Resort in the mouse world. :(



In those five years, we've tried a large number of ways to stop this yearly invasion:



- Traditional Traps

They simply didn't work. Either the mouse could eat the bait without triggering the trap, or it would catch the mouse without killing it - which was pretty disgusting. I did find one type of traditional trap that worked, but then it was discontinued.



- Glue Traps

These were basically worthless. Mice would drag them to a new location, but then free themselves without too much trouble.



- Poison

This was a fun solution - I would go into my basement (where I work) and smell a week-dead mouse that I couldn't find.



- "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

One year I simply didn't bother to try to catch them; I was too exhausted from previous attempts. I figured as long as they stayed hidden, I would ignore their existence. This option didn't go over too well with the wife.



After all this frustration, I figured I would try the Rat Zapper. All I can say is: IT WORKS! I caught 6 mice in the first 48 hours I had it set up, and disposing of the mice and resetting the trap was clean and easy. Best of all, I can use this trap for years to come; it no longer has to be a yearly experiment to see how I can catch our rodent visitors.

I have a rat problem in my attic. After searching around for solutions, this product appears to have the best solution to help with my rat problem. So far my Rat Zapper Ultra has caught 5 rats, and it is still going strong. I read some reviews complaining about battery life, I belive they are refering to the original Raz Zapper, not the Ultra version. The difference is that the Ultra version uses 'D' size batteries, which last much longer than the 'AA' used in the regular Rat Zapper. I have my rat zapper on for the last 3 month and the batteries are still ok. When it comes to catching rats, the fine details really matters. It is not easy to get them to take the bait. The bait that comes with the Rat Zapper didn't work at all. The rats don't care them at all. I had paced some of those bait outside the trap, and the rats won't even eat them. What I find works really well is peanut butter. What I do is use a glob of peanut butter about the size of a quater, and place it on a sheet of candy paper(I use the black circular paper from See's candy). The placement of the peanut butter should be skewed to one edge of the paper. Place the peanut butter bait inside the trap such that the peanut butter is just touching the metal grill at the end of the trap. That way, a rat can stick his paw in and get some sample of the peanut butter from outside of the cage. In addition, I smear a tiny amount of peanut butter on the outside of the metal grill to attract the rats, and gurantee that they can get a free sample. The rats just love peanut butter. When ever I have a catch, I notice that the peanut butter on the grill is alway licked clean by the rat, and they just can't resist going in to get the rest of the peanut butter once they have a good taste of the stuff. Another important procedure is to always wear disposable glove when handling the trap and bait material. Rats have really keen sense of smell. They tend to stay away from things with people smell. Wearing disposable gloves will help reduce the chance of transfering any scent to the bait and trap.

The key feature of this product that sold me was the optional Rat Tale attachment. Since my trap is paced in the attic and I don't want to climb up to the attic daily to check on the trap, the Rat Tale is a great option to have. Rat Tale is a remote monitoring attachment to the Rat Zapper Ultra and it notifies me by flashing red light when ever there is a catch, so I only need to climb up to the attic when I see the Rat Tale flashing. One draw back of the Rat Tale is that is uses it's own internal battery for power and I'm sometimes worried that it might run out of power before I noice that there has been a catch. I really prefer to deal with the catch while it is fresh than to deal with smelly decomposed mess. The Rat tale is rated to run flashing alert for 20 days, so maybe it's not really an issue if you check on it on a regular basis.

The Rat Zapper Ultra is a great mess free trap. Add the Rat Tale, it is truely convient when the trap needs to be place at inconvient locations. For total cost of $68 for both, it is turely worth it. There are other more expensive traps with true wireless remote monitoring ability out there, but they are very expensive. The Rat Zapper Ultra is the best solution for the lowest cost. I only wish I bought this earlier before I hade experimented with glue traps and snap traps. The glue traps and snap traps are messy and they don't work well at all.

Finally a Zapper with more voltage! Now I can really sizzle those mice. I was previously getting rid of them with the regular Zapper that only uses 4 AA batteries; I really felt it wasn't enough. I had to modify my current Zapper MacGuyver-style to use the electrical outlet in addition to a high-voltage amplifier, outputing well over 120-volts of pure lightning. You can tell when you've gotten a mouse because you here a slight crackling sound like those Pop Pop Snaps fireworks you buy on the 4th of July. Also a bit of smoke if you get there quick enough. It's not uncommon to have the Zapper tip over on it's side due to the mouse getting thrown against the walls of the Zapper - those mice don't know what hit them. Science rules! *cackling*

After reading a number of positive reviews here, I ordered the Rat Zapper Ultra to try and take care of a pretty serious mouse problem we were having. After receiving the unit, I baited it with the provided food (dog food, I think). But the next morning, we had no kills ... yet we did have more mouse droppings. So the next night I decided to use some of my own dog's dry food (which I knew the mice loved since they had eaten their way into a large bag of it stored in our basement). That did the trick! From that night on, I found a dead mouse every night for 11 straight nights. And that has completely solved our mouse problem ... one which I would have paid between $200 - $500 to have an exterminator do. So I highly recommend this product, as it works as advertised.

This digital timer is the hands-down best among the many light timers on the market. Incredibly easy to program. Plugs into the lower socket of your wall outlet, leaving the upper socket free for something else. Best of all is the unadvertised feature: an internal battery to keep it on time during power outages. Don't know what makes it "CFL ready", but it's reassuring to know that is. Has a manual override by which you can turn it on when it's off, turn it off when it's on, and return it to your programmed settings. Has 24h option. Professional grade indeed, without the professional price.



I can say without a doubt that Intermatic used to be the best on the market, dating back to huge industrial gear driven units, but something happened a few years ago and they cut too many corners. The digital ones they are making are cheaper than ever and don't last. When I found this one, not on Amazon, I held it and bought it immediately, sensing the better quality.



The waterproof lid is great and it is built to last. The dual outlets are convenient. It is built for heavier loads. (15 AMP) It comes with a wall mount for easy installation. The lead wire is short but then again most timers don't even have a lead and too long might be a hindrance.



The dual battery backup, my favorite feature, means the time and settings stay where you put them. With one rechargeable battery built in, and one replaceable lithium (included) you are covered for even serious power outages. It is easy to program as well.



The only other thing to say is that I am here for a second one so I guess I wholeheartedly recommend this one.

We purchased this timer to replace our Intermatic HB350RCH All-Weather Timer



The Intermatic fails all fair use for light duty application, but the Stanley 31215 Outdoor Pro seems to be an excellent pick



Our usage is on the inside of our home and this Stanley was very easy to program for our needs



There's six on and off settings and it has dual battery backup to keep your program stored if you have a power failure
