DMT D6FC 6-Inch Dia-Sharp Double-Sided Fine/Coarse Bench Stone Review.
"Good Diamond Sharpener" 2009-11-12
By C. White (Huntsville AL)
What can you say - its 2" x 6" coarse one side and fine on the other. Its core is a flattened steel plate nickel plated with the diamond crystals bonded to each side. Because it's steel and not plastic, as long as you hold the tool you're sharpening consistently you will get a straight edge.
It's nice having both the rough and fine grit on the same sharpener. And the only practical way to sharpen modern stainless high-hardness knife steel is with diamond.
My only complaint is that the DMT sharpeners like this used to come in a nice leather holder (which I used for final stropping by hand). This comes in standard plastic shell packaging.
Regarding the other review - This is 2" by 6" as clearly stated - Wishing it were bigger isn't a problem with the sharpener - It's a buyer problem. But it is big enough that if you were to sharpen a sword, for example - You hold the sword still and move the sharpener - Not vice versa.

Used this stone for sharpening chisel & plane blades. Good stone; does what it is meant to - cuts material fast on coarse side & fine side brings in edge/blade pretty close. I like to do my final-finish on a good (Arkansas)whetstone for a really great finished edge - could probably use the 'extra fine' diamond stone for that. If you are serious about sharpening and want the speed of diamond cutting then consider getting two stones: the coarse/medium and fine/extra-fine; you would really have all bases covered that way!
"This stone not for speed skaters" 2009-04-08
By H. Sano (Pasadena, CA USA)
I purchased this stone to sharpen my speed skates. Unfortunately, 6" is not long enough to sharpen speed skates held in a jig. One needs a 9" or preferable 12" stone for this purpose.
I've used the 12" version of this stone in the past and have been very happy with it. DMT makes a quality product. Unfortunately, this stone did not suit my purpose. Amazon handled the return in a prompt and professional manner.
